Design and print your own decorative pattern using lino under the expert guidance of artist and printmaker Nicholas Hughes.
Referencing David Parr House, you will start with making some super quick drawings which will inform your designs. Using tools ideal for lino carving each participant will explore your own approach to mark making which we will translate to pre-mounted blocks to print from. Printing with different techniques creates pattern and surprises and you can continue your printed creations at home.
All materials included aprons will be provided but please bring something waterproof to take your work home in.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY
Nicholas Hughes is a UK-based artist working in illustration, print and wallpaper design. Hand drawing and storytelling are placed at the centre of his craft as inherent forms of communication that give us as humans an immediate sense of place in ourselves, with others and in the wider world. His distinctive wallpapers allow considered steps to give rise to happy accidents.
