More about the Technique:
French Beading is a historic craft believed to have originated in Italy and gained popularity in France. Once a favoured pastime for women to earn an independent income and decorate their homes, it was also used for creating memorials in the Victorian era. The technique involves stringing and shaping tiny glass beads on wire to form intricate floral designs. Despite its near disappearance during the early 20th century, French Beading is experiencing a resurgence, allowing artists and enthusiasts to recreate beautiful blooms that last forever.
More about Holly:
Holly is a self-taught French Beading artist with over ten years of experience. Her background in theatrical costume design informs her detailed and delicate approach to this lost art, bringing it to a modern audience. Passionate about the power of flowers in evoking memories and emotions, she carefully studies each bloom before translating it into beadwork. Holly runs group and individual workshops, creates bespoke commissions, and designs beaded flower installations, wedding accessories, and decorative pieces.
