Rush Christmas Decorations with Nadine Anderson
Join master basketmaker Nadine Anderson and weave your own festive willow decorations using traditional basketry techniques. Working with Cambridgeshire-grown willow and locally harvested rush, you'll create a collection of beautiful handmade decorations inspired by the natural materials and craftsmanship that were so important to the Arts & Crafts movement.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn simple basketry and weaving techniques with guidance from master basketmaker Nadine Anderson
Work with natural, locally sourced willow and rush with a very low carbon footprint
Create a selection of festive decorations, including angels, snowflakes and Christmas trees
Discover the qualities of traditional basketry materials and how they can be shaped into decorative forms
Leave with your own handcrafted willow decorations ready to display or gift

About Nadine Anderson
Nadine Anderson is a basketmaker based in Cambridgeshire and has been weaving for over 28 years. She is a Yeoman Basketmaker of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers and works primarily with home-grown willow and locally harvested rush, creating both functional and decorative pieces. Her practice celebrates traditional rural crafts and sustainable making, using locally sourced materials to create beautifully crafted work.
