Moving Stories
Moving Stories is the fourth edition of House Guests at David Parr House, with works by contemporary artists, designers and makers taking up temporary residence at 186 Gwydir Street.
This year, the exhibition takes on a new form with works arriving throughout October, each settling into the house at their own point in the month. Each new guest will be announced on arrival, and the exhibition will unfold gradually, evolving as more artworks join, right through to the end of the year.
Curated around the theme Maps, Travel and Journeys, artists and visitors are invited to consider: Where have we come from? Where are we going? What do we carry with us? To explore journeys both real and imagined, extraordinary and quotidian, from physical routes and imagined landscapes to maps, memories and the traces we leave behind. Working across varied scale, material and processes, the works sit alongside David Parr's original decorative schemes and the contents of the family home, creating intimate and unexpected dialogues and encounters throughout the historic house.
Please note: The exhibition can be viewed during House Visits from 1 October to 9 January 2027. Entry to the exhibition is included in a House Visit ticket. Photography is permitted during these House Visits throughout the exhibition period.
