Walk into 186 Gwydir Street and it’s as if Victorian decorative artist David Parr or his granddaughter Elsie Palmer have just left the room … They lived, consecutively, in this small terraced house from 1887 to 2012 and created and preserved a wondrous decorative survival, his beautiful Arts and Crafts workmanship layered with her family’s 20th-century belongings.

This in-depth tour is led by a member of the original team who discovered the house in 2009 and helped save it from 2014. Using David’s notebook, Elsie’s family memories and artefacts, and deep knowledge of the restoration and conservation work, the tour offers a highly atmospheric insider’s experience. An extraordinary experience in an extraordinary worker’s home.
