Description

In 2018, after conservation work had been completed at 186 Gwydir Street, Saskia Huning spent three months painstakingly recreating damaged and missing areas of David Parr’s wall paintings. How she did this and what she learned from it will be the subject of this fascinating talk.

Saskia will reveal her approach to the complex task of recreating a painting so that it sits comfortably alongside the original work, describing the planning, methods, processes and thoughts behind the project. She will also talk about her path into this interesting field of work.

Saskia Huning has been working for her family company Huning Decorations for 20 years. Specialists in paint and painted finishes of all kinds using both traditional and modern paints, Saskia’s work encompasses retouching and recreating historic scenes and murals as well as graining, marbling and gilding.
